Once the top is off it is totally straight.
And bottom without top is totally straight.
But once together - result is on pictures above

My Ukrainian LEGO community every year this season holding a 8x8 vignettes contest with simple rules:
1. Theme - X-mas
2. Size - 8x8 plate no limitation on heights
3. Only actual Lego parts, no virtual designs.

7.20 per kilo of approved bricks? Plus you got to ship it and it is min 5.49 per 2 kilo in germany. (Honestly who has more then one kilo of unwanted bricks?. Unwanted also has very little sense;) ) Much more attractive in USA where you can drop bricks in the shop.
