AFOL.lu – Recognized LEGO® User Group

Our recognition in the LEGO® LAN

Who we are

The AFOL.lu Community is the official Recognized LEGO® User Group (RLUG) for Luxembourg and the Greater Region. Founded in 2012 as an online forum and supported since 2025 by AFOL.lu a.s.b.l. based in Mertert, we bring together adult LEGO® fans from Luxembourg, Germany, France, and Belgium around our shared hobby.

We are three worlds in one community: the AFOL.lu a.s.b.l. as the legal entity, the open online platform as a meeting place for everyone, and an established partner network across the Greater Region. This structure allows us to be locally connected and cross-border at the same time.

Our history with the LEGO® LAN

AFOL.lu was founded in 2012 as an online forum. In the years that followed, the community grew steadily through monthly meet-ups, annual exhibitions, building evenings, and an active online platform.

Official recognition as a LEGO Fan Community was granted in 2012. Since then, we have been part of the international fan network and have been in regular exchange with the LEGO Group and with other communities worldwide.

Our commitments

With our recognition as an RLUG, we have committed to the Recognized LEGO® LAN Principles. These eight principles cover organisation, open membership, behavioural standards, active participation, online presence, intellectual property, community ambassador, and the ongoing maintenance of recognition.

In concrete terms this means:

  • A solid legal structure as an a.s.b.l. under Luxembourg law (Loi du 7 août 2023), with transparent statutes and an elected board. → see Board and Statutes
  • Open and low-barrier membership in three tiers – free forum membership, supportive Sympathisant membership, and active membership with voting rights. → see Membership
  • Clear behavioural standards that apply equally to all members and to the leadership, with a defined reporting process and transparent consequences. → see Code of Conduct
  • Careful handling of personal data in accordance with the GDPR and Luxembourg data protection law. → see Privacy Policy
  • Respect for the LEGO® brand and the intellectual property rights of the LEGO Group, including a clear brand disclaimer and correct use of the trademark.
  • Active participation in the Greater Region partner network and exchange with other RLUGs.
Community Ambassador

Our Community Ambassador is the official liaison between AFOL.lu and the LEGO® LAN. They represent our community's interests towards the LEGO Group, coordinate communication with other RLUGs, and ensure that relevant information from the LAN reaches our community.

CA
Current Ambassador: FRANZETTI Gilbert
Deputy Ambassador: FOETZ Guy

The role is assigned by a decision of the General Assembly and is held jointly with the chair of the association (President), to ensure clear responsibilities and a reliable deputisation channel through the Vice-President.

Our partner network

AFOL.lu does not stand alone – we are part of an established network of partner communities across the Greater Region. These partnerships carry exchange across national borders and enable joint projects, exhibitions, and initiatives.
